REPERES DE REFERENCE

  Apre`s une courte introduction portant sur la de'finition
et la construction d'un syste`me de re'fe'rence,la pre'sen-
tation sera essentiellement consacre'e a` la construction du
nouveau repe`re de re'fe'rence ce'leste de l'UAI. Les re'solu-
tions sur les syst`mes de re'fe'rence adopte'es  par l'UAI en
1991 seront  examine'es et on discutera l'e'tat actuel de leur
mise en oeuvre. On de'crira le rep`re de re'fe'rence extraga-
lactique de l'IERS et on montrera qu'il remplit les conditions
impose'es par l'UAI. Le catalogue Hipparcos sera rattache' a`
ce repe`re  avant la fin de l'anne'e. On pre'sentera l'e'tat
d'avancement de ce travail.

      REFERENCE FRAMES

  After a short introduction on the definition and the constru-
ction of a reference frame, the presentation will concentrate on
the actual construction of the new IAU conventional reference
frame. The 1991 IAU resolutions on  reference systems will be
reviewed and the present state  of the implementation of these
resolutions will be discussed. The IERS extragalactic reference
frame will be described and it will be shown that it fulfills
tha IAU requirements. The Hipparcos catalogue will be linked to
this frame before the end of this year. The state of advancement
of this job will be presented.
