HOW TO USE the VENUS.EXE PROGRAM.

1. The VENUS.EXE program was created under the VT-2004 project.
It serves for distance computation of the Sun-center (or solar limb)
to Venus-center during the Venus transit over the Sun.

2. The Venus.exe program is applicable on PC platform (Wins, DOS).

3. The image file must be in FITS format. All other demands on the
images, observations, etc. are described in
http:\\proxyon.asu.cas.cz\~venus\index11.php


4. To work this program, please use the keyboard keys,
description is given inside the steps.

5. The distance Venus-center (the Venus is projected on the Sun surface)
and Sun-center is computed. The result is in units of "D" determined,
where "D" is diameter of the Sun in the scale of observed image.

Simple VENUS.EXE Session.

1. Create a new directory and copy there the venus.exe file and
all images in fits format you want to process.

2. Start venus.exe program.

3. Select an image by arrow key (active is yellow) you want
to compute the distance.

4. Confirm by ENTER, image is displayed.

5. Press any arrow key and system of coordinates is visible. You can
move the axes by arrows inside the disk to determine 4 random crossing points
of axes and limb. It is recommended to put the axes cross close to the Sun-center.

6. Press ENTER and the 4 white points should be visible on the limb edge.
If any of them is out, go back by ESC, change position of axes point of
intersection and try again.

7. If all 4 points fit on the limb edge, press ENTER.
A white circle around the Sun and cursor will be outlined.

8. Using the arrow keys move cursor into the Venus-center.
For the fine motion you can use the most right arrows on the keyboard
in the NumLock mode.
Confirm by ENTER.

9. Then the distance of Sun-center and Venus-center is displayed.
It is determined in the units of "D", where "D" is diameter of the Sun
in your image scale.

10. To finish program press any key.
